Overview

You have been hired as a consultant by a local non-profit organization that provides job training and employment services to unemployed and underemployed individuals. The organization wants to effectively communicate its impact to stakeholders, including donors, board members, and the community. Your task is to create a data visualization presentation that highlights the organization’s achievements and effectively conveys its story.

Assignment Instructions

1. Review the data provided by the non-profit organization, which includes information on the number of individuals served, job placement rates, retention rates, and demographic information of program participants. Refer to the data provided below in the Assignment Data section.

2. Select five data visualization tools that you have learned from the weekly activities calendar. These tools should be relevant to the data you are presenting and effectively showcase the organization’s impact.

3. Using a presentation software of your choice (e.g., MS PowerPoint, Canva, Prezi, Google Slides, etc.), create an 8 to 10-minute recorded presentation using the selected data visualization tools (approx.10 slides). Your presentation should include the following:

    1. An introduction to the non-profit organization and its mission
    2. A clear, compelling narrative highlighting the organization’s impact and achievements.
    3. Effective use of the five selected data visualization tools to support your narrative.
    4. Insights and conclusions drawn from the data.
    5. Recommendations for future actions or areas of improvement for the organization

4. Ensure that your presentation is visually appealing, easy to understand, and effectively communicates the organization’s story to stakeholders.

5. Submit your recorded presentation and a brief written summary (150-200 words) of your chosen data visualization tools and how they support your narrative.
