Assignment 1 Instructions

Write a two-page-ish paper and 500750 words, to define two terms.

• Do not Google this term because your answers should reflect films, readings, and lectures for this course from module 2.
• Use a text or film once.
• If you ID more than two terms, only the two will be graded.
• Due through Brightspace.
• Worth 10% of your final grade.
• Late papers will marked down 50% every day late.

Choose two:

• settler colonialism
• mockumentary
• Daniel
• sovereignty

For each ID (Worth 5 points each):

1. Define the term and historical context if necessary. (1.5 points)
2. Brief citation of the article (author, part of the title), film (director, title), or lecture. (5 point)
3. Give an example from the films Even the Rain (2010) and Babakiueria (1986).
   Suggestion: use a film per example. In other words, use both films to get full credit.

Assignment 2 Instructions

Write a one-paragraph Daily Module Assignment of at least 6 sentences, including two direct quotations from the assigned reading for Tues 5/26 (quotes should include at least one complete phrase, with a subject and a verb, so quotes of only a few words are not sufficient), each cited with a parenthetical citation including the authors last name and page number, i.e. (Brown, 90).

Students should reflect on issues raised by the reading, present their opinion or interpretations to the ideas highlighted by the reading. These homework assignments are designed to prepare students to have ideas to present in class discussions.
