Instructions: The Annotated Bibliography, MLA 9 Format
-You should have four items in your bibliography, and they must be sorted alphabetically.
–For each of the four sources–all which must originate from either of the three assigned databases (Opposing Viewpoints, Issues & Controversies, or JSTOR) you must include the MLA 9 citation followed by a four-sentence synopsis. Note that the MLA 9 citations are provided with each source in the database.
- The first two sentences of the synopsis should summarize the source.
- The second two sentences of the synopsis must include the quote(s) from the source that you will use in the essay. Ideally, these quotes will align with the summary sentences.
EXAMPLE OF A SYNOPSIS:
The article explains the longstanding belief that the American Dream used to be available to all Americans. It does this by providing multiple examples that illustrate a robust middle class from the mid-20th century that gradually diminished as the wealth gap widened. According to the author, “Americans today often cannot afford homeownership, even with two incomes”. Most Americans feel that “the current economic system favors only the super-wealthy.”
In addition, you must attach screen shots that clearly show the article title in the database, as well as the quote(s) highlighted in the article. This can be done by selecting “Upload Image”, which is in the dropdown next to the icon of the mountain/sun, or by selecting “Insert”.
teacher notes: Incomplete essay.
Be sure the Revision includes the required quotes from both the play and research.
These are not the complete citations. They can be accessed in the database by selecting “Cite”. Be sure to make the necessary update for the Works Cited prior to submitting the Revision. Please let me know if you choose to add/subtract any sources as you progress.
