Formative 1:
There are many tools you can utilize to effectively communicate with your stakeholders. Each tool is not always appropriate for use if it doesn’t meet the needs of the stakeholders.
Reflect on your current organization or one in the past and highlight 2-4 communication tools that will work best for your needs when it comes to communicating with stakeholders and identify why those specific tools were selected.
Create a table to provide the following:
- Stakeholder need
- Communication tool
- Purpose and why this tool is beneficial

Formative 2:
In previous competencies, you created an improvement plan of your current communication. Now its time to look at a plan anyone can utilize. For this formative assessment, you will develop a communication plan outline.
Your communication plan outline should include:
- Key people involved
- Stakeholders
- Objectives
- Frequency of Communication
- Types of Communication
- Resources Needed
Outline these areas and how they can be utilized for any professional setting.
Document Type/Template:

Summative:
Using the outline from your formative, you will expand it into the full communication plan as your final assessment.
Key People Involved/Stakeholders:
- Identify the key individuals or groups who will be involved in executing the communication plan. Explain their roles and responsibilities in the communication process.
- Consider: Who is responsible for delivering messages? Who receives them? Who manages communication flow?
- Identify and describe the stakeholders impacted by this communication plan. Include both internal (e.g., team members, managers) and external (e.g., clients, partners) stakeholders.
- Discuss how each stakeholder group will be engaged and the importance of clear communication with them.
Objectives:
- Define the objectives of the communication plan. What are the key messages that need to be conveyed to the stakeholders?
- Outline how these objectives align with the overall goals of the project or scenario. Make sure these objectives are specific and measurable.
Frequency of Communication:
- Describe how often communication will occur. Will there be daily updates, weekly meetings, or monthly reports?
- Explain why this frequency is appropriate for the context of your project and how it supports the objectives.
Types of Communication:
- Specify the types of communication that will be used (e.g., emails, virtual meetings, progress reports, newsletters, face-to-face meetings).
- Discuss why these communication methods are appropriate for the stakeholders and objectives you have identified.
Resources Needed:
- Identify any tools, technology, or resources required to effectively implement the communication plan (e.g., project management software, video conferencing platforms, templates for reports).
