To fulfill these assignments, youll be utilizing the writing, critical analysis, and research skills youve

practiced and applied in class discussion and developed over the course of the semester. You will write

an analysis/interpretation-based paper arguing an original, specific, critical analysis/reading of a text

weve covered during the course. You can choose any of the primary texts we have read and discussed

in class during the semester during the period for that paper. For example, Paper 1 covers the first four

weeks of class; Paper 2, the next four weeks, etc.

This paper (3-4 pages, not including the works cited

page) should include cited textual evidence/support from the primary text(s) and from at least one of

the secondary sources you read for the primary text(s) you are focusing on for your paper.

Your paper should:

-Include an introduction with a targeted, solid thesis statement which declares the specific argument

you are making about the primary text.

-Include multiple body paragraphs which support the thesis

-Include a paragraph or so which addresses potential arguments against your thesis.

-Finish with a conclusion which includes more than a simple restating of your introduction. It should

wrap up your argument.

-The last page should be a Works Cited page.

-All the paper should conform to MLA style and formatting.

Obviously, you should avoid stylistic and major grammatical errors, and should conform to appropriate

tone for an academic audience.
