For this exercise, please complete these steps.
Review the following websites and their advice on effective outlining:
How to think through the contents of an outline: “Tips for Organizing Your Essay” (Links to an external site.) by the Harvard College Writing Center.
In particular, focus on “Strategy #1: Decompose your thesis into paragraphs,” but all parts are relevant and useful.
How to create informal and formal outlines: “Outlining Handout” by the Central Connecticut State University Writing Center.
Next, generate an outline of your Final Essay.
Please make it a “full sentence” outline, meaning that you use full sentences for each entry, not just single words or small phrases. “Outlining Handout” has an example of this under the section on formal outlines.
Please include at least two points and at least two subpoints (if you’ve looked at “Outlining Handout” linked above, think of having at least two Roman numerals, with at least one A and one B under each Roman numeral). This means you must have at least six entries.
Consider including quotes or other forms of evidence in your outline to help you see how you’ll use your sources.
Please note that you are not tied to what you write here and can change any and all of it later if you want.
Finally, write a 100-150 word reflection describing what you took from this exercise.
