Submit a scholarly writing sample written by the applicant of graduate-level scholarly writing that adheres to the elements of scholarly writing outlined in the below rubric. Make sure your writing includes evidence for each of the indicators below. This should not exceed 6 pages (not including references). Proper citation and references must be included. If this was part of a publication or graduate course submission, include the specifics of the publication or submission (journal reference; university/course). Proof of originality (via a plagiarism checker) should be attached. Submissions missing this proof of originality or found to be plagiarized will not be evaluated. Your submission will be evaluated by a team of qualified reviewers and must meet the threshold of an average of 2 or higher by the majority of the team. Elements of Scholarly Writing Indicator Criteria Rating Content Knowledge Writing demonstrates an understanding of current and classical research related to the writing topic Connection/Support Writing shows connections among sources (readings, research, experience) which supports writing claims/arguments. Theory-based Writing connects content to appropriate theoretical perspectives and/or frameworks. Perspectives Writing gives insight from multiple perspectives regarding assumptions, values, and social identity. Organization Writing utilizes effective organization with smooth flow of the text. Voice Voice is well-articulated with engagement and differentiation evident between writers positions and references cited. Language Appropriate and effective use of vocabulary, grammar, spelling, and sentence structures. Formatting Consistent and accurate use of formatting style implemented. Citation Sources are credible, accurately cited, and referenced.
