work break down structure

This assignment is part of the course project. Refer to

Use the software management tool you selected to develop a Work Breakdown Schedule (WBS) for your project scenario. A WBS is a visual tool that helps break down a project into smaller, manageable components. This document is a dashboard overview of the work needed to accomplish the project objectives and create the required deliverables.

Take your scenario, divide the project into smaller, more manageable tasks, and assign responsibilities and deadlines for each component. This detailed WBS will help monitor progress and ensure that all aspects of the project are on track for timely completion and within budget.

Include the following:

  • Summarize the purpose and importance of a WBS.
  • Identify the software management tool selected for creating the WBS.
  • Justify the choice of the tool (e.g., features, usability, compatibility with project requirements).
  • Provide a high-level overview of the project and how the WBS divides it into smaller, more manageable tasks.
  • Show how the WBS contributes to achieving the project objectives efficiently.

Read through all sections before proceeding to the next page and refer back whenever necessary.

The basic structure of a WBS is as follows:

Project Name

  • Planning
  • Define project scope
  • Develop project plan
  • Execution
  • Implement tasks
  • Monitor progress
  • Closure
  • Finalize deliverables
  • Conduct project review

The following is a simple example using this basic structure:

Project Name: Aircraft Painting Refresh

  • Planning
  • Resources: Four planes, seven people
  • Timeline: Two months
  • Supplies: Order supplies
  • Execution
  • Prep airframe: Wash aircraft, strip old paint
  • Prep surface: Treat surface, mask off
  • Paint: Cure time, remove masking
  • Quality checks: Correct flaws
  • Closure
  • Finalize deliverables: Inspection
  • Conduct project review: Evaluate processes, lessons learned

Proceed to the Estimating Project Activity Times section.
