week 9 teaching note

Teaching Note

The teaching note is written after the case study. As the name suggests, the teaching note is a tool to be used by the instructor as they explore the case with students. Think of it as a kind of instruction manual for the instructor. The audience for the note is the instructor of a graduate-level business or communication course.

The teaching note should include the elements listed below.

  • Synopsis of the case
  • Brief description of what the case is about.
  • Key issues in the case
  • Identify key issues in the case and provide a brief analysis of each issue
  • Questions for discussion
  • Minimum of four questions, designed to stimulate discussion of the case by students.
  • Detailed answers to all questions, supported by research.

Use headings and sub-headings throughout the teaching note to guide the reader, but do not label the introduction.

Research requirement: Analysis of issues and answers to discussion questions must be supported by research. Sources from the case study may be used. A specific number of sources is not required for this assignment.

Suggested length: 4-6 pages (suggested length does not include title page or reference page)
