W6A1 Differential Diagnosis

Differential diagnosis is the term used to differentiate between diagnoses that share similar presenting features. Each disorder in the DSM-5-TR has a differential diagnosis section that guides clinicians in ruling out other disorders that may be similar in presentation and offers considerations for determining which is the accurate representation.

Read the Differential Diagnosis section for Bipolar II in the DSM-5-TR (pages 157-158). Choose two of the disorders covered in the section to highlight for this assignment.

Submit a 1-2 page paper that covers the following for each of the two disorders you chose: (a) overlap in symptoms between bipolar II and that disorder, (b), factors that help differentiate between the two disorders, (c) reflection on the potential consequences or issues that a client may face if they were diagnosed with bipolar II rather than the disorder you chose.

All papers should be written in APA format. Use 12-point Times New Roman font and include a student style title page and references (no abstract required). Use your APA Manual as a guide. Plagiarism or use of AI will result in disciplinary action up to and including a 0 on the assignment and/or failure of the course.

Requirements: 1-2 pgs
