Instructions

Part 1: The Current State of GGFRT

1. Analyze Current IS Support: Based on the provided , analyze how GGFRT’s current information systems (e.g., FAX, two-way radios, Route Optimization/Freight Tracking System) support or hinder business operations, decision-making, and strategic initiatives. Provide concrete examples for each area.

2. Evaluate Business Process Optimization: Evaluate the role of IT in the company’s current business processes. Identify and explain at least three inefficiencies in the current processes for freight pickup and delivery. How could a new or updated information system optimize these processes to improve performance and driver satisfaction?

Part 2: Proposing Recommendations to Align Information Systems with Business Strategic Objectives/Direction

3. Data Management and Analytics:

• Data Challenges: Identify the key data management challenges faced by GGFRT. How does the current system prevent the company from effectively collecting and using data?
• Proposed Solution: Propose a strategy for data governance and data management that would address these challenges. Explain how implementing a new system with a centralized database would enable data analytics and visualization to achieve the company’s strategic objectives, such as “improving the percent of loaded miles.” Include a change management strategy that includes how leadership will communicate systems changes and how they will be benefit the organization.

4. Ethical & Cybersecurity Implications

• Risks: Assess the ethical and cybersecurity risks facing GGFRT’s current operations. Consider data privacy, communication methods, and regulatory compliance.
• Mitigation: Propose specific ethical framework(s) information systems solutions to mitigate these risks and ensure compliance with federal and state mandates like the FMCSA reporting requirement and Sarbanes Oxley.

Part 3: The Business Report

5. Develop the Report: Compile your analysis into a professional business report for the GGFRT management team. The report should include the following sections:

• Executive Summary: A one-paragraph summary of your key findings and recommendations.
• Current IS Analysis: Your answers to questions 1 and 2.
• Proposed Strategy: Your answers to questions 3 and 4.
• Conclusion & Recommendations: A summary of your proposed plan and a clear call to action for the GGFRT leadership.
• Appendix: Include a simple, conceptual diagram or flowchart that visualizes the current inefficient communication/data flow compared to a proposed, more efficient system.
