Unit 4: Socialization and Social Roles Sociology 288

For this entry, consider your various statuses, including your master status. Do you experience status inconsistency in any form? If so, in what way? After you have identified your statuses, select one of your identified statuses and describe the norms, values, expectations, and roles that go along with that status. Is your selected status ascribed or achieved? Is there a social ranking involved? Is your role coercive? Does your role come with challenges? Finally, who were/are the agents of socialization that socialized you into the status you picked? What mechanisms of socialization did they use to teach and enforce your socialization? What forms of violence did you experience? Did you/do you resist this socialization, and if so, how?
