Overview

The Understanding the InTASC Standards assignment is designed to help you become familiar with the professional standards that guide effective teaching practice. The Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) standards describe what teachers should know and be able to do in order to support student learning, development, and ethical practice.

Through this assignment, you will analyze the standards, reflect on their significance, and begin to connect them to your own emerging identity as a professional educator.

Purpose

This assignment supports your development as a reflective practitioner by helping you:

Assignment Tasks

You are required to complete two components:

Part I: Written Reflection

Write a reflection paper that addresses the following:

Explain why you selected these standards and how they connect to concepts discussed in this course (e.g., learner development, learning environments, ethical practice)

Part II: Visual Representation

Create a visual representation that illustrates how the InTASC standards are interconnected. This may be presented as:
