1. Why is it important to consider biological factors and individual traits in the explanation for crime and delinquency? Offer at least two reasons (do not use Lombrosos theory). In addition, discuss why a complete understanding of crime and delinquency requires a consideration of biological factors, individual traits and the social environment (do not use Lombrosos theory). Use and cite relevant assigned articles, videos, and class notes. To receive full credit, address all parts of the question.

2. Some of the theories covered so far, argue that some people learn to engage in criminal behavior. Some of these theories are micro or individual level theories while others are macro or group level explanations. With these two categories in mind, list the theories covered on the lecture notes and the assigned articles in their corresponding category and identify the common assumptions of the theories in each of these two categories. Use and cite relevant assigned articles, videos, and class notes. To receive full credit, address all parts of the question.

3. Use and cite relevant assigned articles, videos, and class notes to discuss the following: The Chicago School research methodology is also known as the Ecological School of research. Why is it important to study the ecology of the city & neighborhoods? Why was it important for the Chicago School writers and scientists to study, among others, the impact of the following topics on crime and delinquency: poverty and its impact, broken homes, single motherhood, mobility/transiency, neighborhood differences, inner city living conditions, mixing together diverse people and neighborhoods, etc. To receive full credit, address all parts of the question.

4. First, identify and discuss the meaning of anomie, strain and social control. Then identify the theories that fall into each of these categories. Finally, discuss what each of these theories state as the reason or causes for delinquent behavior.
