Theoretical underpinning

rpose: To analyze a POI through the nursing metaparadigm, nursing theories, and complexity science.Aligned Course Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs):

SLO 1. Critically analyze and synthesize the scientific and theoretical foundations that underpin advanced nursing practice and guide clinical judgment.

SLO 2. Integrate and apply nursing science with biophysical, psychosocial, ethical, philosophical, and social sciences to inform evidence-based, person-centered, and population-focused care.

SLO 3. Interpret and evaluate complex health phenomena using interdisciplinary theories, models, and conceptual frameworks relevant to advanced practice.

Assessment Learning Objectives

By completing this paper, the student will be able to:

  • Critically analyze nursing and interdisciplinary theories relevant to the identified Phenomenon of Interest.
  • Evaluate the applicability of selected theories for guiding advanced nursing practice and clinical judgment.
  • Synthesize theoretical perspectives to explain complex health phenomena across individual, population, and systems levels.

Demonstrate theory-to-practice linkage consistent with advanced practice roles.

Instructions:

1. Introduce your POI and theoretical framework; include a thesis statement.

2. Describe the nursing metaparadigm and analyze each component in relation to your POI.

3. Select a Grand Nursing Theory; describe its conceptual framework and apply it to your POI.

4. Select a Middle-Range Theory; discuss its concepts and alignment with the Grand Theory.

5. Describe complexity science and complex adaptive systems (CAS); identify a CAS relevant to your POI and apply principles of complexity science.

6. Conclude with a synthesis of insights.

Please review the video instructions for this paper in the Module. Specific requirements are detailed in the rubric.

All assignments are to be submitted electronically within the course. Because the faculty receive many of the same assignments, a file naming format is established for all student submissions. The file naming standard is as follows:

  • File naming standard: Students Last name, First name, Class Number with section, and Assignment Name.
  • For example, Doe-Jane-NU613.801-Organizational Analysis Paper

Title page to include the following statement:

I do solemnly affirm that I have not violated the Honor Code of the USA College of Nursing by misrepresenting information received from another person or generated by artificial intelligence software as my own, nor have I been aware of such conduct without reporting it appropriately.
