Theoretical Perspectives PowerPoint

In your own words, explain what the theory means to you. To set up your explanation, you may cite the definition found in the book and then report your interpretation of the theory. (slide 1) Your interpretation will include an example of how the theory can be interpreted. Your example may be taken from popular culture, the news, your family… It should be an example that helps you explain how the theory can be interpreted. In Chapter 2, you will read that the author used the case study as an example in the seven primary theoretical sections to explain how the theory would be used to explain an aspect of the case study. For example, the movie, Mean Girls, may be used to explain Conflict Theory; you will explain how the movie explains the theory. (Slide 2) Using 3 of the 5 criteria for evaluating theory found in your text, you will report one criterium per slide. For instance, a con of Psychodynamic theory can be found under the Diversity and Power Arrangements criteria (See Hutchison, p. 45). Using the questions found under this criterion, you can report your answers on the PowerPoint slide. For example, the author suggests psychodynamic theory has traditionally reflected a white, middle-class, European male perspective. How is that theory inclusive and helps us to understand diversity? Since you are evaluating the theory, you will then respond with a critical analysis of the theory. (Slide 3-5) You will then report a True/False statement based on your presentation. You should also include the answer and explain the reason for the answer. (Slide 6) The last slide will be the reference page which will include your textbook and one academic reference. An academic reference can be from an academic journal or book, and you can use the Library Resources found under the Resource tab for assistance. The reference page should be in APA format. (Slide 7) Spelling and Grammar: students are expected to use proper grammar in the presentation and have no spelling errors in the PowerPoint.
