Word Count: 1000 words (+/- 10%, excluding bibliography and footnotes)
Choose a film (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) related to one of the weekly topics (Formalism and Realism) and craft an argument addressing the following:
- How do selected scenes represent a concept or idea relevant to your topic?
- How do cinematography, sound, mise-en-scne, and editing contribute to meaning in these scenes?
- Focusing on 12 key scenes is acceptable if this allows for more detailed analysis.
Research and Sources
- Conduct extensive research using academic journals, books, or other reputable sources.
- Minimum of 3 academic sources required.
- Sources must be cited in-text and listed in a bibliography.
Theory and Analysis
- Integrate at least one theory (The Auteur Theory) or concept from the module.
- Provide close reading of visual and aural details.
- Include screen captures of selected scenes: Number images sequentially and Provide captions that reinforce your argument
