Textual Analysis of a Mystery

  • Choose a mystery, something without an answer, but plenty of room for conjecture. This can even be a mystery within a work of fiction such as an unresolved plot line in a series.
  • Explore what is known about the mystery, such as when it first began to be investigated, what speculation has been made about it so far, information related to the region where the mystery is based, etc.
  • Present a hypothesis of your own about the mystery. What are you basing your conjectures on? Try to present your own theory rather than repeating the theories already surrounding the mystery.
  • At least 1,250 words, and this does not include the Header, Title, or Work Cited Page
  • As grammatically and mechanically correct as possible.
  • Accompanied by a properly formatted Work Cited Page that includes at least three Peer-Reviewed sources
  • While a specific number of quotes are not required, each source should be used effectively.
