For this project, you will be creating a brochure. The brochure requirements are as follows:
Front Panel
- Title: (e.g., “Fighting Terrorism Without War” or your own creative title)
- Visual: One image representing global cooperation or peace efforts
- Subtitle/Tagline: (e.g., “Diplomacy, Prevention, and Intelligence: Building a Safer World”)
- Why Non-War Strategies Matter
- Explain why military responses are not always the best solution.
- Focus on long-term benefits: less violence, prevention, sustainable peace.
- How Terrorism is Communicated
- Briefly explain how terrorist groups use communication (media, social media, propaganda, symbols).
- Identify four mediums of communication (examples: news media, internet, social media, word-of-mouth).
- Explain how traditional or digital media can spin or frame terrorist events in ways that influence public perception.
- Assess the effectiveness of media reporting by identifying an example of responsible and irresponsible coverage.
- Nonmilitary Responses to Terrorism
- Describe at least four to five strategies used to fight terrorism without war (examples: Diplomacy, Cybersecurity, Intelligence Sharing, Counter-Radicalization, Economic Sanctions)
- Real-World Example (Case Study)
- Highlight a real example of nonwar counterterrorism. Include:
- Country or organization
- Terrorist threat addressed
- Strategy used
- Outcome
Back Panel
- Quick summary of why non-war strategies matter
- Include a slogan or statement encouraging support (e.g., “Peace is Strategic” or “Fight Smart, Not Hard”).
- Add a few logos or fictional sponsors like an NGO or UN task force for realism
- List one to two resources where your community can learn more (websites, organizations, hotlines)
Use the brochure template provided, and include visuals and citations from sources you used. Your references, written in APA Style, should be added to a separate document and uploaded with your brochure.
