Using the pediatric stages of development to support your answer (i.e. Erikson, Piaget, Kohlberg), please discuss the following questions:

1. How would a nurse prepare a 4-year-old child for surgery of cleft lip and palate differently than another pediatric age group? Please discuss preoperative teaching for the preschooler and choose another pediatric age group to compare and contrast (infants, toddlers, school-age, or adolescents).

2. Further, as you are preparing a child for surgery of cleft lip and palate, you notice signs and risk factors that indicate abuse. Discuss appropriate questions for the family and describe developmental differences that will affect how you approach a child regarding the abuse. (Choose one of the age groups you compared in question #1).

You are required to use at least two nursing references (your textbook is a great one). You will then respond to two of your classmates answers with your thoughts on their discussion. Your initial post must be at least 300 words. Your response to each classmate must be at least 150 words and you must support your response with an example from your nursing reference. Don’t forget to cite your nursing reference in correct APA format at the end of your discussion posts.
