Strategic Reassessment and Executive Decision-Making through…

Assignment Objective

The objective of this group case study is to develop advanced analytical and strategic decision-making skills among MBA students by examining how Health Information Systems (HIS) and healthcare analytics support managerial decision-making in real-world healthcare organizations.

Students will work collaboratively to analyze an assigned Harvard Business School or Ivey Business School case, each of which presents a distinct organizational context, managerial dilemma, and set of case-specific questions related to healthcare information systems and analytics.

Assignment Scope and Expectations

Students are expected to adopt the perspective of a senior healthcare executive or strategic decision-maker. The analysis should emphasize managerial judgment, strategic reasoning, and organizational implications, rather than technical system design or implementation details.

Each group is required to:

1. Identify and clearly articulate the core managerial and decision-making challenge(s) presented in the assigned case.

2. Provide well-reasoned responses to all case-specific questions, supported by evidence from the case and relevant course concepts.

3. Critically analyze and discuss the following dimensions:

o The role of Health Information Systems and healthcare analytics in improving the quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of managerial decisions

o Key organizational, data-related, technological, and human capability barriers that limit effective HIS adoption and utilization

o The strategic implications of HIS and healthcare analytics adoption for executive decision-making, organizational performance, quality of care, and long-term sustainability
