Stages of Reading Development

This a reflection paper. There is a video that you have to watch and two articles that you have you to read and write about them. You do not have to watch the entire video, stop at 24:24.

• Overview of Reading Development Stages: Summarize the stages of reading development discussed in the article. Highlight key characteristics and milestones of each stage. Compare these stages with Jean Challs framework, noting similarities and differences.
• Instructional Strategies and Early Reading Skills: Describe how early reading skills, such as phonological and phonemic awareness are foundational for the early stages of reading. Provide examples of instructional strategies that support these skills and explain their importance.
• Challenges and Interventions: Discuss common challenges that students may encounter at different stages of reading development. Reference specific stages from both the article and Challs framework. Propose strategies or interventions to address these challenges.
• Application to Teaching: Reflect on how the information from the article, video, and Challs stages will influence your teaching or support of students. Include examples of how you might adapt instruction to meet the needs of learners at different stages.
