Social workers focus on the interaction between people and their environment and engage with individuals, families, groups, and communities. In this assignment, you will analyze how a community responds to a person experiencing social or psychological challenges, using a selected film as a case study. Your task is to explore how the film’s community responds to the central character and the issues they face, using core concepts from the social work practice framework.

Paper Guidelines:

Length: 3-5 pages, double spaced (excluding title page and reference list)

Format: APA 7th Edition

Include the following sections (consider using these as heading titles in your paper):

Primary Challenge

Include a description of the primary challenge facing the main character and how this impacts their community or environment

Community Strengths

Clearly identify strength of community members (i.e. family, neighbors, institutions, etc.)

Social Work Practice Framework

Apply the social work practice framework, include the following stages:

Engagement – describe how the community first engaged with the individual

Assessment & Planning – explain how community members or professionals assessed the needs and planned for appropriate support or services

Intervention – describe actions taken to address the issue and support the individual; identify who was involved in these interventions (i.e. family, professionals, community organizations, etc.)

Termination & Evaluation – discuss how any interventions or community responses are concluded; describe how outcomes were evaluated or how the situation was resolved
