Social Problems

You must write four separate papers using the textbook Social Problems: Sociology in Action (2nd Edition). Each paper is at least 500 words, double-spaced, and is based on one real news article from a legitimate news source such as USA Today, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Time, Newsweek, or the Macon Telegraph. Blogs, opinion pieces, informational websites, and journal articles are not allowed. Each paper must use a different article and a different topic. Article Response One must relate to chapters 1, 2, or 3 of the textbook, Article Response Two must relate to chapters 4, 5, or 6, Article Response Three must relate to chapters 7, 8, or 11, and Article Response Four must relate to chapters 12, 13, or 14. Each paper must include a reference for the news article, a summary written in your own words, a connection to at least two specific ideas from the textbook using quotes and page numbers, a section explaining who is hurt and who benefits, and a section describing possible solutions and who should help fix the problem. Each paper is worth 15 points, for a total of 60 points, and must be submitted as a Word or PDF file.
