Background

In this assignment, you will conduct a detailed appraisal of one peer-reviewed primary research article directly related to your EBP question using Appendix E2 of the Johns Hopkins Evidence-Based Practice Model.

This activity will help you evaluate the articles level and quality of evidence and determine its relevance to nursing practice.

This assignment supports the following AACN Essentials sub-competencies:

  • 4.2b Evaluate appropriateness and strength of the evidence

Pre-Assignment Preparation

Before starting:

  • Conduct a database search to find one primary research study, published within the last 7 years in a peer-reviewed journal, that is directly related to your EBP question.

Note: Do not select pre-appraised evidence (e.g., systematic reviews, meta-analyses, clinical guidelines). Choose a single-study research article.
