SBAR Key analysis

Please read these instructions carefully.

Begin by summarizing your ethics situation in one paragraph, making reference to challenging ethics-related experiences (e.g. moral distress, ethical dilemma, moral uncertainty, etc…) and ethics keywords found in the Armstrong Clinical Ethics Coding System. Ethics situations descriptions of more than one paragraph will not be accepted. This may mean that you will need to revisit your first Ethics SBAR submission and parse apart what is more suitable for your “ethics situation” and what is more suitable for the “background” section of your Ethics SBAR. Please do not submit the additional background information in this assignment, but consider what is essential to include in your final paper.

Then, write a summary of your key analysis points following these guidelines:, but co

In bullet form: 1) identify, 2) define and 3) describe (in less than 2 sentences) how the following are applicable to your case:

A. At least two relevant principles, provisions, standards, or directives from the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics (2015), with proper citations.

B. At least two relevant principles, provisions, standards or directives from the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services (ERDs) (2018), with proper citations.

C. A relevant selection (quote or idea) from at least one additional source from your own research, with proper citations.

D. Other principles, values, promises, legislation or virtues not already identified in the above resources, with proper citations, that are essential or especially useful to your ethical analysis. (You may find the Ethics Workup SBAR for Students under the Ethics SBAR folder useful for this – to help you think through it.)

A sample structure might look something like this:

Ethics Situation – with Armstrong Clinical Ethics Coding System (ACECS) (2013) utilized

ANA Code of Ethics

ANA Code of Ethics Provision 1

(here, you’d introduce this provision, state what the provision says, possibly quote relevant text from the “descriptive statement” of that provision from the Code of Ethics,

then describe how it’s applicable to your case)

ANA Code of Ethics Provision 6

(repeat instructions above)

ERD

ERD No. 3 (here, you’d introduce this Directive, quote what the Directive says, then describe how it’s applicable to your case) Follow APA format with capitalization, and proper acronym usage so that the reader does not have to guess what it stands for

ERD No. 57 (repeat)

Additional Source from a Source that is not part of assigned readings or text for the course

(identify, define and describe how that source is applicable to your case)

Other Principles, Promises, Values, Legislation

(for each that you identify, again identify, define, describe how it is applicable to your case)

Note that when you submit your actual Ethics SBAR paper, you will not be using bullet form. You will be writing in prose.

Use APA format and layout in this submission. Be sure to use APA style for your citations and reference list, too.

Remember: Once you introduce a concept or quote, you should define it and describe how it is applicable to your case. If one were to remove the word you are defining itself (e.g. beneficence), your description should be specific enough that we could identify the concept you are describing.
