Module 2 Reflection (A4c) Assignment: Leadership Reflection on Power, Authority, Justice, and Humanity

Purpose:

The purpose of this assignment is to encourage you to critically reflect on themes of power, authority, justice, and humanity by analyzing a mythological leader. This exercise will help you connect these concepts to cultural narratives and leadership styles, enhancing your ability to think critically and articulate your thoughts on leadership. Completing this assignment will contribute approximately 4% to your final grade, so it is important to engage thoughtfully and thoroughly with the material.

Task:

You will select either King Arthur or Robin Hood as the subject of your reflection (Note: If you used one of these characters for your A2 Cultural Mythological Leaders PPT, choose the other for this assignment).

Step 1: Download and Review the Template

  • . The first half includes background information and reflection questions to guide your analysis.
  • Carefully read through the background information and questions to guide your reflection on the key concepts of power, authority, justice, and humanity as they relate to your chosen leader.

Step 2: Reflect and Respond

  • Using the reflection questions in the template, along with your own thoughts and questions, reflect on what King Arthur or Robin Hood teaches about power, authority, justice, and humanity within the culture they represent.
  • Formulate your own opinions on these topics and support them with evidence from the text and external sources. Be sure to cite your sources appropriately.

Step 3: Create Your Final Slideshow: Template slides are provided to address the following:

  • Title Slide: Include your name.
  • Character Slide: Introduce your chosen character with a brief description and a relevant image (do not use the example image provided in the template).
  • Content Slides: Template slides are provided to address the following topics in context with your selected character (Robin Hood or King Arthur) – acknowledge your source(s) of knowledge with in-text citations on the slides and a reference slide listing any sources cited in the slideshow:
  1. Power
  2. Authority
  3. Justice
  4. Humanity
  • Reference Slide: List any sources you cited in your slideshow. (See if you need help on in-text citations or references)

Step 4: Finalize and Submit

  • Delete the instruction slides from the template.
  • Save your slideshow as a PowerPoint (ppt) or PDF file, ensuring your name is included in the file name.
  • Upload your final document to Canvas.

Criteria for Success:

Your reflection will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  1. Content Understanding and Synthesis:
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the concepts of power, authority, justice, and humanity as they relate to your chosen leader.
  • Provide a thoughtful analysis that synthesizes course materials, your own reflections, and acknowledges external sources with citations and references.
  1. Critical Thinking and Analysis:
  • Show depth in your reflection by considering different perspectives and supporting your opinions with evidence (i.e., citing sources of knowledge).
  • Engage with the broader questions posed in the assignment, such as the nature of leadership and the relationship between leaders and their followers.
  1. Clarity and Organization:
  • Present your ideas clearly and logically in your slideshow.
  • Ensure that your slides are well-organized, visually appealing, and free of grammatical errors.
  1. Citation and Use of Sources:
  • Appropriately cite all sources used in your analysis, including textbook references and any external materials with parenthetical, in-text citations and reference slide
  • Demonstrate the ability to integrate external information to support your analysis.

Grading Assurance: You will receive at least a C for making a respectable effort on this assignment. An A is reserved for work that is thoughtful, well-supported with explanations and citations, and demonstrates a high level of critical thinking. Remember, this reflection is worth about 4% of your final grade.
