- Consider an areas you would like to research related to Human Resource and then conduct research to find a gap in the existing literature (usually found in the Limitations section and/or Recommendations for Future Research sections of published articles).
- Complete the sections in order:
- Background of the Problem: Provides the research foundation leading to the problem and purpose statements. Provides the reader with information relating to the importance and/or significance of why the research study is being conducted. The specific problem statement should not be included. One-page minimum.
- Problem Statement: Should start with, The problem to be addressed is This statement should be specific and address the gap in the existing literature/research. The problem statement describes the overall research problem being addressed and explains the importance of the research to business/the field of Human Resources (e.g., who would care if the problem were studied?). Should be 150 250 words.

- Literature Review: A review of the research related to the problem being researched. Students must use peer-reviewed journals when completing this section. Two-page minimum.
- Research Method and Design: Provide a description of the proposed research method (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods) and design with the method. Why was this method and design selected over the other methods and designs? One page minimum.
- Population: Includes the population from which the sample will be drawn, and the expected/necessary sample size needed to complete the research. page minimum.
- Applications to the Professional Practice: How would the findings of this research apply to the business/Human Resources? Why would this study be relevant to business/Human Resources? One-page minimum. (CLO 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
