Reflection week 6

For this assignment, please identify two distinct tradeoffs that appear in our February 18 and 23 readings (for example, wealth building vs. permanent affordability, or local control vs. state intervention). The examples shared in class are meant to illustrate what a tradeoff looks like, not to limit your choices.

For each tradeoff, analyze the tension within it and explain how different policies attempt to reconcile (or fail to reconcile) that tension. You may choose to explore one tradeoff more deeply than the other, but I do want to see you seriously wrestle with two separate policy tensions.

Where appropriate, you may conclude by reflecting briefly on what examining these tradeoffs reveals about the broader structure of U.S. housing policy particularly how history, politics, and institutional constraints shape which side of these tensions tends to prevail.
