The framework below supports the conceptual development of the presentation:

Slides 1 & 2: Identifying the Need for Organizational Change (1 minute)

Based on your practicum experience, identify an issue or area within the organization

that would benefit from change. This could involve improving organizational culture,

addressing gaps in service delivery, enhancing cultural humility, or fostering a more

trauma-informed environment.

Briefly explain why this change is needed and how it alig aligns with ethical social work

practice and our commitment to social justice.

Slide 3 & 4: Integrating Micro-Level Interventions and Macro Considerations into Mezzo

Planning (2 minutes)

Identify specific micro-level interventions you have employed in your practicum that

could be scaled up to address mezzo-level issues. For example, if you successfully

implemented a trauma-informed approach with individual clients, explore how to

integrate this approach into organizational policies or community programs.

Briefly discuss any identified macro-level policy issues you see impacting your

practicum, and connect the macro-level practice to the need for organizational change

(for example, considerations for asylum seekers).

Slides 5 &6: Justice Oriented Change (2 minutes)

Articulate how you anticipate your proposed organizational change will benefit the

organization and improve outcomes for individual clients or client groups (provide only 2

reasons).

Consider how your project addresses power dynamics, privilege, or institutional racism.

Slide 7: Overcoming Barriers & Challenges (2 minutes)

Discuss potential barriers or challenges to implementing your organizational change

project. These could include resistance from staff, organizational policies, funding

limitations, or power imbalances.

Utilizing skills discussed in class and from the readings, propose strategies for

overcoming these barriers, such as engaging in collaborative decision-making, promoting

non-intrusive collaboration, or building mutual trust and respect with key stakeholders;

be specific and name two ways you would overcome barriers and challenges.

Slide 8: Self-Care (2 minutes)

Describe how you will prioritize self-care while implementing the organizational change

project. Consider the organization’s self-care protocols and support provided to staff.

Consider how emotional stress, resistance to change, intersectionality, and power

dynamics might impact your well-being and ability to practice self-care.
