Social identity wheel activity:
Instructions: Think about your own identity and how aspects of your identity may put you in a position of privilege or lead you to experience oppression. Using the identity wheel, write or share what you are comfortable with.
You might not be able to write on the social identity wheel–I couldn’t. If that is the case, list the identities found in the middle of the wheel (as shown in 1-4 below), and then add the boxes’ aspects matching each identity. It is quite possible you might not use all of the aspects.
1. Identities you think about most often
2. Identities you think about least often
3. Your own identities you would like to learn more about
4. Identities that have the strongest effect on how you see yourself as a person
After completing this part, (1) discuss how aspects of your identity may put you in a position of privilege or lead you to experience oppression. (2) Find a scripture verse related to the identity that means the most to you.
