Write an essay that introduces the two readings and the ideas that are expressed in each. This is a comparative essay in nature such that you will be reading two perspectives about the same or similar event or theme in history. Your essay should include an introduction, a supportive body with citations and/or quotes, and a reasonable conclusion that encompasses the historical view of the issue. If relevant, include a note speaking to how this historical view impacts us today. must use Chicago formatting, TNR 12-point font, double spaced.
KEEP THIS QUESTIONS IN MIND WHILE YOU READ
- What is the time period in which the piece was written?
- What was a pressing issue in America, the world at this time?
- Who is the person or group represented in the readings?
- What is the purpose of the writings?
- How are these two pieces the same? How are the different?
- What the outcome of events in the writings. i.e. what followed this event or time period?
- How can history reconcile the objectives of each piece? i.e. how can we interpret the events from both sides of the issue?
