This is the Quality Improvement (QI) Project is designed to teach the process for implementing and evaluating a QI project. This is a 4-week assignment to allow students the opportunity to actively engage in the quality improvement (QI) process. Each student will choose something upon which they would like to improve. Yes, this project will focus on your own quality improvement. Projects are individualized and focus on how you can better improve yourself, as a person and most specifically as a nurse. Ideas could include: improving study habits; preparing for NCLEX; improving class engagement, etc). Each student will develop an Aim Statement to identify and support the selection of area for improvement. Following the process for improvement, the student will implement Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles over a consecutive 3-week period. Students will use the fourth week to (1) write their individual paper using the rubric as a guide for paper . The paper must include:

  • A graphic to demonstrate the data (run-chart or bar graph). The graphic should be created from Excel.
  • Follow all areas of the rubric in order to support the paper
  • A minimum of three current journal or textbook references to support statements within the paper. References must be no less than five years old.
  1. Although this QI project focuses on the student, the paper must be written in third person.
  2. Adhere to APA standards.
