Write a 5-6 page paper (not counting the cover and reference pages) by following the steps below. (*NOTE: The term “page,” as used in this class, refers to a minimum of three-fourths of a page of typing.)
- Briefly summarize the movie’s plot. (No more than one paragraph) (2 points)
- Choose two theories of personality listed in the class’s readings (with the exception of Integrative and the Eastern Approaches) and briefly describe each theory, including the name of the pioneers) who developed these theories, and describe at least 4 main concepts or assumptions for each theory (about one page for each theory). (6 points)
- For each of the movies two characters have been identified. For each of these characters, choose one of your discussed theories to describe the character’s personality or symptoms. Students need to incorporate at least 4 concepts from each theory to describe symptoms or traits of the character’s personality. These 4 theoretical concepts can either be the same 4 concepts discussed in section 3 of this prompt or some other concepts from the theory. Personality or psychotherapy theories focus on different issues such as the sense of self or others, intrapsychic or interpsychic issues, impact of society or culture on | personality, parenting impact on personality, issues of learning or experiences, motivation, authenticity, sexual development, genetic or biological influences, conscious, subconscious, or ego issues, etc. The concepts that you incorporate in this paper to describe the character should cover a wide range of issues from the theory and not just focus on a narrow issue. Each concept described in this paper should accurately match the description of the concept in the theory (cite when needed). (5 points)
- Follow step #4 for the second character in the movie but use the other theory in your paper to describe the character’s personality. (5 points)
- Write a concluding section to provide a reflection on this assignment, the chosen theories, or the movie and characters. (2 points)
- Include a cover page and a reference page.
