Acting as the newly appointed Chief, Commissioner or Sheriff develop a Strategic Plan utilizing the template to address ANY of the following critical issues in Community Policing;
Issues of Bias & Racial Profiling
Excessive Use of Police Force
Competent Policing in Society
Police Recruitment & Selection
Police Entry Level & In-Service Training
Organizational Response to Misconduct
Early Intervention and Monitoring for At Risk Officers
Taking community -oriented policing to the next level.
Be sure to develop the plan based on these elements:
- Detailed analysis of the Issue (augmented with empirical support).
- Examination of stakeholders positions and perspectives (providing strengths and weaknesses).
- Describe partnerships that can foster reform and inform policy and practice.
- Develop and outline organizational improvements & initiatives to foster stronger and effective, communication, cohesion and cooperation between the police and the community.
- Be sure to utilize textbook citations and empirical articles assigned to the course to support your argument and plan of action.

Students will be prepared to present their plans orally before a Mock City Council/City Commissioner’s Meeting on MondayFeb 23rd 7PM EST via the zoom platform.
