Portfolio Research

Purpose

The purpose of this portfolio piece is to:

• Apply knowledge and theory related to the prevention, diagnosis, and management of select uncomplicated common acute and chronic health problems for individuals across the lifespan.
• Develop differential diagnoses and plans of care based on evidence-based research and clinical practice guidelines.

Overview

In this part of the portfolio assignment, you will choose one of the topics provided and research it to gather reliable information from which you will make a video script. The deliverable for this part of the portfolio work will be an annotated bibliography with an emphasis on summary and evaluation of sources.

Your video will represent a basic but informative explanation of the topic. Even though your final product will use language that most anyone will understand, your work must be informed by the best evidenced-based sources you can find. It will be your job to translate the findings to lay terms. A sixth-grade level is an appropriate target for your wording and explanations. You can use a

Research your topic using library databases, the library guide for FNP including UptoDate, and other credible, evidenced-based sources. Here are the that you may choose from for the portfolio project. If there is a topic not listed that you would like to focus on, please discuss your idea with the instructor for approval.

1. Research your topic using appropriate library databases, the FNP library guide including UptoDate, and other credible, evidenced-based sources. You need at least five (5) sources. None of your sources may come from trade publications or sites that end in something other than .gov or .edu.

Then summarize each source addressing health maintenance, promotion, and epidemiology. For the epidemiology, provide statistics in the communities (when available) county, state, and national.
