For your Personal Branding Assignment, you will be creating your own e-Portfolio. This ePortfolio will be designed by you, using a rationale of your choice based upon your expected portfolio needs. For example, for those of you going into medical fields, you might find it beneficial to create a branding portfolio for yourself that contains personal information to market and sell yourself in the field, but also creative examples of the types of ePortfolios that might be associated with patients in your future. Interactive design and art students might choose to include examples of art projects and web page designs. Computer information and technology students might incorporate examples of coding, systems designs, or models. There is no “right” or “wrong” way to design your ePortfolio, but it does need to be on an online, shareable portfolio site, such as Google Sites, Wix.com, or the Canvas e-portfolio system. What you should focus on is what you want to present and how you can best present that information.
The following are some examples of student ePortfolios posted by various colleges and universities. Browsing through these examples can help you get an idea of what materials you wish to include in your ePortfolio. Be aware, these include students at all levels of educational and work experience. You should choose what to include based on your own needs. These are just examples.
Do not attempt to use standard social media communication sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or even some business-oriented sites such as LinkedIn. These sites are not designed to construct portfolios and will conflict with your presentation goals. Some e-Portfolios online you might find are built in PowerPoint or Prezi. These are also not recommended as they can be problematic for audiences to view effectively.
Don’t Forget
- Submit the draft of your portfolio here. This should include the reflection you’ve completed based on your personal goals and anything else that may be relevant.
- Be sure to upload a link to the actual e-Portfolio site. And make sure the site can be publicly viewed or viewed “by anyone with a link.” Zipped files and paper drafts are not acceptable.
- Remember, the assignments in this module are NOT skippable.
