Step B) Professors Draft (15 pts. For Part One; 25 pts. For Part Two; 40 points total) Submit your draft of part one and two. See Step D for information on part one and part two. *See Step D for what should be included in the PowerPoint. *Note 1: Fellow classmates will read/view your PowerPoint. Therefore, if you do not want others to know what makes you tick, then you should replace your autobiography with a case study of a friend, family member, famous person or an alias. Step D) Final PowerPoint Part One (55 points for entire section) PowerPoint will include: Title Slide (5 pts) Overview Slide/s for Part One and Part Two (10 pts) Actual (currently are) Personality Slide/s (5 pts) Ideal (want to be) Personality Slide/s (5 pts) Ought (what others want you to be) Personality Slide/s (5 pts) Description of Your Rating on the Big Five Slide/s – Complete Your Own Five Factor Personality Assessment (10 pts) Genetics Slide/s (5 pts) Nurture/Environment Slide/s (5 pts) Review Slide/s for Part One (5 pts) Hint for Part One: Describe your personality, including your main traits, your typical style and manner of interacting with people and what are some typical stressors (environmental stimuli) that cause stress, the main features or quirks that make you unique, and the ways that others who know you well would describe you. What would you like to become (ideal), what would others like to see you as (ought self), what could you change with your personality or self? How might you new/updated/ideal self either be achieved or not achieved? *Be aware that your descriptions and analyses may change over the semester as you read, study, and do more introspection (reflecting upon yourself). No First or Second Person Language in Part One (Max Reduction of 20 pts): Even though we are writing an autobiography, please write in a third person format. For example: DO NOT USE first person – I, me, we, us etc… Instead use: Third person – your name and appropriate pronoun (he/she/ or something gender neutral). I know it is strange to write an autobiography like this, but writing in the third person will help with future psychology writings as science writing frowns upon first and second person usage. Furthermore, if you have ever read The Education of Henry Adams, you will realize that writing an autobiography in the third person affords many more creative avenues than writing in the first person. Yeah, I havent read The Education of Henry, but I have heard good things. Part two (80 points for entire section) Literature Review PowerPoint will include at least eight slides with a total of 70 points Overview for Part Two Slide (5 pt) Article 1 Slide/s and how it relates/explains characters personality in some manner (10 pt) Article 2 Slide/s and how it relates/explains characters personality in some manner (10 pt) Article 3 Slide/s and how it relates/explains characters personality in some manner (10 pt) Article 4 Slide/s and how it relates/explains characters personality in some manner (10 pt) Article 5 Slide/s and how it relates/explains characters personality in some manner (10 pt) Conclusion Slide/s for Part Two (10 pt) References Slide/s (15 pt) Hint: Your Review of the Research Slides: (You will attempt to explain your personality through research – peer reviewed experiments/data). Why do you think you became the person you are today? You will need to: a) review each articles research design and findings (5 points), and then b) relate the findings to your characters personality (5 points). *there is no way to prove your characters personality was caused by a findings from an article, instead these articles will serve as evidence as opposed to proof. For example: You can describe why you are outgoing and energetic from an environmental perspective. In an article, the researchers found children who are raised in environments which require the children to meet new people and spend more time with strangers are more likely to be outgoing and energetic when the children are young adults. APA Citing and Referencing: When citing within a slide, only include the author last name/s and year published: e.g. Males on average tended to be more… Johnson and Smith (2008). Whereas the References Slide is at the end of the presentation and contains: author, year publish, title, journal, volume, pages, and doi # Example: Johnson, M., & Smith, T., (2008). Personality and jokes. Journal of Funky Personality, 5, 1-44. doi:10.1108/03090560710821161 Only Third Person in Part Two (Max Reduction of 20 pts) *Note 1: The research or theory/perspective does not need to actually explain your personality. You can become creative and embellish how the research fits in line with your personality. However, the main objective is that you use the perspective in an appropriate manner to explain your personality. **If there are many grammar and spelling errors points will be deducted from both Part 1 and 2. Max of 10 points can be deducted from each part.
