• Begin by selecting a significant event in your life that a general audience would find relatable and interesting.

Please note that the eText “locations” are not the same as the page numbers. Page numbers are located in brackets along the right margin as you scroll through the online pages.
• Writing the Essay:
• Write an account of the significant moment and include your reflective insights.
• Ensure your essay has a clear thesis statement, strong supporting reasons, and sufficient evidence.
• Organize your essay in a clear and logical manner.
• Refer to pages 96-104 in your eText, starting with “Selecting a Topic,” for guidance on writing the essay. See previous note about page numbers in the eText.
• Formatting:
• Use MLA style formatting
• The essay should be at least two full pages. Essays of less than two full pages will not earn more than 50% of the total points possible.
