Use your selected scenario to answer the following questions:

I. Introduction to the client and the working environment

Include in your discussion:

A brief summary of the client and the presenting problems to be addressed in

therapy.

The mental health service delivery modality (inpatient, outpatient, partial

hospitalization, aftercare) and whether the services are being offered through

community mental health (public) or private facilities.

How is the office is set up; room decor (warm colors, only lamps with no

overhead lighting), furniture arrangement (how is the room set up to ensure

counselor safety), and what efforts have been made in the overall environment

that helps to create a comfortable and welcoming environment?

II. How will the counselor address the initial sessions of The

Counseling Process?

Include in your discussion:

III. How will you address Professional Development?

Include in your discussion:

Based on the type of treatment you are providing and the population of the client,

which type of professional organizations should you be affiliated with and why?

Discuss the specific type of conferences or continuing education you plan to

attend in order to remain current on the latest evidence-based practices

associated with the type of treatment you are providing for this client.

IV. Termination of Counseling

Include in your discussion:

Describe the process you will use to terminate counseling with a client. You must

address timing and facilitating.

Which form of follow-up do you plan to use and why is that the best choice for the

client in the scenario you picked?
