After you complete your ‘Spent’ simulation, answer the following questions on template

1. Before the activity starts, you find out you lost your home, your job, and your savings, and you are down to your last $1,000. What were your initial thoughts or feelings before you even start the activity?

2. Every Spent journey is different depending on the choices you made. Describe your choices. On what did you choose to spend money and what did you decline? How did you decide to prioritize those decisions?

3. “Person-centered care allows patients to make informed decisions about their treatment and well-being. They have a team of primary care providers, specialists, and other health care providers who know them, listen to them, and are accountable for their care. Doctors and other healthcare professionals who provide person-centered care help patients manage their health care by providing tools and services that align with their patients preferences and values so they can reach their health goals” (CMS.gov, n.d., para 3). Do you believe person-centered care is possible when a client is living below the poverty line and prioritizing resources as in the ‘Spent’ simulation? Why or why not? Discuss access to healthcare and cost of insurance or care in your answer.

Part 2: In 2022, 37.9 million people were living in poverty (Census.gov, 2024). Every day millions of Americans have to decide if they will buy groceries or pay their utility bill.

Research your community and identify:

1. food resources

2. utility payment assistance

3. housing assistance

Find at least 3 resources for each of those categories. Document the name of the resource, a brief description of services, how to qualify for assistance,
