Task: Research a company’s publicly documented performance management approach and analyze that system (be sure to cite your source)
Things to include:
- Description of the System What type of performance appraisal system is used (e.g., rating scales, 360-degree feedback, management by objectives, narrative/essay)? How does it work? How often do reviews occur? Who is involved in the process?
- Rating Errors Identify and explain at least 2 rating errors that can occur in this system. Rating errors are common mistakes evaluators make when assessing performance (examples from your readings include halo effect, recency bias, leniency, central tendency, and others). For each error, explain how it could realistically show up in the system you’re describing.
- Recommendations for Improvement Propose at least 3 ways to improve the system based on your readings. One of these must address rater training (how managers are prepared to conduct fair and accurate reviews). For each recommendation, explain WHY it would improve the system.
