Assignment Overview

In this discussion board, you will be asked to pick a particular nursing theorist from your readings, apply it to your current work situation and your personal beliefs about professionalism and nursing. After that you will hypothesize how all of this might affect your communication style, inter-and intra-disciplinary leadership, management, and collaboration.

Instructions

Each presentation should contain a title slide with the title of the presentation and author’s name. Each PowerPoint should include citations within appropriate slides and also a corresponding reference page. All references should be listed in APA 7th edition format at the end of the presentation. The PowerPoint will be a maximum of 10 slides and include detailed information within the notes section of the PowerPoint.

The presentation should:

• Describe the background of the nurse theorist and the various social and professional issues that influenced the development of the theory. Consider what was happening at the time they developed the theory.
• Identify the key concepts and beliefs of the nursing theory. Concepts common to most nursing theories include person, health, nursing, and environment.
• Apply theory to personal beliefs regarding professionalism and nursing. Are they compatible? Explain Why or why not?
• Discuss how theory impacts your communication style, leadership, and collaboration abilities.
• Apply the theory to a clinical situation and describe how its use will improve nursing care or influence the manner in which care is given. This could be a real situation that you have encountered or a hypothetical one that an RN may face.
