Nurs 8513 DNP project and practicum

My DNP project and practicum taught me a lot about myself specifically, patience, commitment, and perseverance. There were many instances when there were a lot of challenges throughout the project. Some of the times frustrations arose with everyone involved in the project due to lack of active participation from all stakeholders. As the DNP project leader, it allowed me to lead by example and exemplified patience with everyone. Patience is characterized by waiting and leads to the emotional feeling of calmness (Isik et al., 2022).

Another take away from the DNP project is understanding the process of process changes. I did not realize there were many stages in the process. It provided me with a better understanding of the process and maintaining success in the project. I also learned that what you had planned may not go as planned but rather be flexible with every change.

The most important learning experience I had was knowing that we can make a positive change in nursing. Whatever changes we make will benefit the safety of our patients and our future nurses. Educating all stakeholders and staff enhances teamwork and buy-in. Its about working together as a team to reach a goal. Teamwork can be enhanced by educational interventions to help strengthen teamwork (Lee Hyun et al., 2025).

What I would have done differently is implement the project for a longer period to assess sustainability. In the short time I implemented the project, there were many barriers and learning curves I experienced. Most were short term barriers, but recognizing long-term barriers can help my organization and future organizations.

What I would pass to DNP colleagues coming into the next class is patience and perseverance. We all have busy lives, and this will pass too. The temporary stress being in the DNP program is worth the sacrifice. We all will go through the challenges that come with being in the program, but we can all succeed.
