This assignment requires you to write an individual paper centered on your personal practice and experience. The paper should not exceed 9 pages, including both cover and reference pages, and must be formatted according to APA standards. The assignment carries a total of 100 points.

The points are distributed as follows:

1. Knowledge of the Topic/Depth of Discussion (40 points)

  1. Introduction
  • Introduce the Novice to Expert Theory:
  • Briefly explain the theory and its purpose.
  • Discuss the Dreyfus Model of Skill Acquisition.
  • Reference Patricia Benners 2001 book, From Novice to Expert, particularly Chapter 2.

B. Explanation of the Thirty-One Competencies and Seven Domains of Nursing

  • Brief Overview:
  • Introduce the thirty-one competencies within the seven domains of nursing practice outlined by Benner (pp 44-46). For further information each domain is discussed in more detail in chapters 4-10.

C. Selection and Discussion of Two Domains

D. Provisions 5.4 and 7.1 of the ANA Code of Ethics
