My Dream Classroom

For this assignment:

• Create a map of your dream classroom (this can be done by hand or on the computer).
• Label major things in the classroom (ie: student desks, teacher desk, computers, etc)
• Write a 1-2 page paper that explains how the set-up of your classroom will aid in classroom management.

The assignment, My Dream Classroom,

A huge part of classroom management is the physical set up of your classroom. How you arrange your classroom will impact the flow and comfort of the classand consequently, can impact student behavior. How will you set up the desks for student seating? Where will you place your teacher desk?Where will you put the classroom technology (computers, laptop carts, etc.)? Are you going to have centers? If so, where will you place those? In addition, you need to consider where you will have your students materials. Will each student have his/her own materials box or will there be one communal box in the center of the table? Where will you store your other materials, such as math materials, papers, etc.? Of course, you will have to consider the placement of the doors, bulletin boards and whiteboard (or Smart Board), which will already be there. You will also need to remember the importance of line of sight supervision. Will you be able to see all of your students? If you had all the furniture, materials and resources you needed, what would your classroom look like?
