Obtain the mission statement of your agency, the organizational chart, and any brochures or program descriptions. Integrate course readings into your responses to the questions and attach a copy of your agencys mission statement and organizational chart to your paper. Note: If you are unable to obtain either a mission statement or an organizational chart from your agency, please explain your efforts to do so and why you think you were unable to obtain them. If you created your own organizational chart, please explain how you did it. Use the following bolded headings as a guideline for your discussion and include these headings in your paper. 1) Type of Organization: a. What type of organization is it? b. Under what auspices does the organization operate? i. For a public organization, what legislation created the organization? ii. For a nonprofit organization, when and where was it incorporated? Who is on the board of directors? What professional backgrounds do the board members have? iii. If the organization is for-profit, when and where was it incorporated? Who is the owner or majority stockholder of the organization? For what does the organization use its profits? 1) Mission: What is the stated mission/purpose of the organization? Who is the target population that the agency provides services for? Are there policy mandates or regulations that authorize and determine how the mission should be carried out in practice (i.e.: service delivery)? 2) Structure: Describe the structure viewed on the organization chart: type of structure, lines of authority, decision-making, and/or power relationships. Can you determine the size and physical location(s) of the agency? Is there a fit between the stated mission and the programs now active in that agency?
