There are two big questions for the Module 6 group discussion.

Q1. (From Chapter 7) Please read the textbook on Community Leadership (pp. 242-244). Share your own experience with a community leader. Examples of a community leader include student association leader, church activity, volunteer activity (e.g., high school volunteer activity during the hurricane, etc.), etc.

(a) What kind of organization was it? Was it successful? or had problems?

(b) Analyze his/her leadership based on three components of community leadership.

(c) Any suggestion to that leader based on this model?

Q2. (From Chapter 8) First, please watch the video clip from the following link and answer all three questions below. (Video for discussion questions ends by 4:47)

(a) What was Mark’s intention, and how was it received and interpreted by Erica? What was Erica’s intention, and how was it received and interpreted by Mark? Please elaborate on the system view of communication: intention-> expression-> reception-> interpretation -> feedback -> new intention in their communication. (e.g., Mark’s intention XXX, Erica’s intention XXX, Mark’s expression XXX, Erica’s expression XXX, etc.)

(b) Define each key problematic part of the communication process from the scene (i.e., the system view ).

(c) What could be done to improve this situation? Please suggest at least three points to fix their problem through communication.
