Overview

You will complete a capstone that integrates the knowledge and skills you have developed throughout the Bachelor of Science in Sport Management program by creating a portfolio presentation, professional resume and cover letter, and reflection.

This milestone will help you complete one of the three final project components. You will develop and present a cover letter and resume that are tailored to meet the requirements of a position within your field of interest. The cover letter should reflect your growth throughout the program, and your resume should reflect your expanded skill set based on your academic coursework and any professional experience or relevant volunteer work. This will demonstrate your preparedness for employment as a sport manager in your chosen field.

For the first milestone of the capstone, you will identify a potential position at an organization within your field of interest and prepare a cover letter and resume suited to the requirements of the position. In addition, you will also create an infographic resume that can be used on digital platforms as a supplement to the standard resume.

Specifically, the following critical elements must be represented:

1. Research a potential job opening and provide the job description for this position.
2. Prepare a cover letter in which you introduce yourself and discuss the key reasons why you are the best fit for this position. Be sure to request an opportunity to discuss the position further.
3. Develop a professional resume that includes education, relevant employment, and key strengths that you believe you will bring to the position. These items may be formatted as bullet points.
4. Create a supplemental infographic resume to be used on digital platforms.
