This mid-term exam consists of two parts. Part One consists of identifications and you are required to answer six. If you answer more than six, I will grade only the first six. Part Two will be the primary Essay question and you must answer one of the two questions posed. All of the exam questions are contained in this hand-out and you should prepare accordingly.
Part I Identifications (42%)Do 6 only. In a paragraph or so please define and give the historical significance/importance. Each id should be specific as to what, when, who, outcome or results of, etcetera. Get specific with details.

Part II, Essay (58%) Answer one of the following questions. Be sure to include specific examples from lectures and readings. Make points to earn points.
A. In the last part of the nineteenth century, the United States entered its second industrial revolution. Discuss the importance of this revolution in terms of the industries and people (owners and workers) involved, as well as its impact on society.
B. The industrial revolution of the late nineteenth century expanded the socio-economic classes of the country as well as created differences within these groups. Discuss the middle and lower classes in terms of their characteristics, differences, and make-up. Remember to include regional, racial, and gender differences.
